Book Review – Blood and Silver

Blood and Silver by Vali Benson is a quick short little book, and it feels like a quick short book..

It is one of those books that if you really only have an hour to devote to something, it isn’t necessarily a bad choice.  But that also does not necessarily make it a good choice either because while it ties up all of the loose ends, it feels like you are missing a chunk of the story..

I really loved that this book was about the history of a town that actually exists.  And I love that this author took that setting, and some of the ideals and locations in history, and turned it into a story that we could care about.

The problem with this book, is that is short.  If you were to have a physical copy of the book in your hands, it is about 100 pages. In this 100 pages are so many characters that are slammed in there that you learn about, try to remember, and move forward with.  It ends up feeling like none of the characters actually get a true character arc, or development.

Overall this was a short and sweet book with a simple plot of trying to find a better life than what you have.  All of the loose endings were tied up nicely, and this would not be a bad book to casually pick up and read.
