Book Review – Paint It All Red

Paint It All Red is the fifth and final book in the Mindf*ck series by S.T. Abby.  I finished this book at two am, it wrecked my brain and I cannot stop thinking about it.

Logan finally figured out that Lana was the Scarlet Slayer and he treated her so poorly.  A woman that has been silenced her entire life over everything that has happened to her was silenced once again by the man she loves when he refused to listen to her.

Yes, he calmed down.  Yes, he wanted to talk to her about it and ultimately agreed with her. But I wanted to throat punch him for how he treated her.  She isn’t just a serial killer, she is a beautiful and perfect little angel that must be protected at all costs.  When Logan did go after her, he found Jake.  Watching Jake stand up to him and defend Lana was beautiful.

As Lana tries to struggle with what is happening with Logan, she and Jake continue on with their plans and I love the dramatics and theatrical parts of it.  The way Jake and Lana kill Kyle and the expose him is phenomenal.  A bit gross, but so well deserved.

And then, the author gives us a mini cliff hanger where we think Lana is dead.  Logan is crushed (so was I) and seeing the way Lana let him know she was alive?  The author could have easily taken an out and just made Logan change himself for love.  And she didn’t.  instead, she forced her character into a situation where he had to question his ideals and morals and what it was he truly wanted.  He has to make the decision himself and it was beautiful.

Overall – The author really went all out with this book and I am so grateful this book series exists.  I finished them all in three or four days and I regret that there is not more in this series.
