I Married A Lizardman (Prime Mating Agency)

Have you ever picked up a book simply because you thought it would be ridiculous based upon the title and the cover?  Not only do you pick up the book because of the cover, but then you read the description and go “huh, that sounds dumb.”  Because that is what I did with this book.

Let me tell you about having your standards raised for not only books, but writing, and men.  I finished this book, and started comparing my husband to a fictitious lizard man, jealous because this is the world I live in.

Let’s start with plot.  The basic plot of this book is Susan is the third daughter born to her family of farmers and her prospects for the future are grim.  So grim in fact that she joins the Prime Mating Agency in the hopes of finding a spouse.  She is very lucky, and gets matched with Olix, a lizardman.  Olix’s people are on the brink of starvation as there are not many animals to hunt, and the gatherers are having no luck.  Olix’s people have a very large disdain for farming, and you do find out why this is in the novel.

Yes, I am fully aware of how ridiculous the plot sounds.  But about halfway into the book, you start cheering Susan on as she progresses in farming, and you are doing nothing but rooting for her and Olix to have a successful relationship (even if a small piece of you is hoping they fail because you want him).

This book is an excellent read, with well written characters, a thought out plot without holes, and it does keep your interested from page one.

That being said, the worst part about this book is probably the parts I love most.  It might be hard for some people to get into given what it is about.  I have talked to a few friends about this book and some of them were not interested and were actually appalled that I would read something like this.  Thankfully, I didn’t like those friends that much and we don’t talk about books anymore.

Overall –  Read the book.  Especially if you have kindle unlimited.  Just download it and give it a shot.  You might regret reading it, but I think you will regret it more if you don’t read it honestly.
